Green Beer

I admit, I think one of the best parts of Saint Patrick's Day is of course the excuse to drink green beer, let's face it, what other time of the year, would you take perfectly good beer and turn it green, I mean beer HAS turned me green...you know what I mean, but turning beer green...Never!  Unless of course it is St. Patrick's Day!

I have to say, I thought this would be some long drawn out process, but it is as easy as opening the bottle pouring the beer into a glass and adding a few drops of food coloring, but in keeping with the spirit...get it!?  I will give you the recipe.

Ingredients

  • Beer, preferable a light beer, darker beers tend not to look green, just dark.
  • Green food coloring, I tried blue but as you will see it turned the beer....blue, go figure.

1)  Start with a fresh glass of cold beer, poured into a glass of your choice.

2) Add 5-6 drops of green food coloring, lightly stir

3)  Make sure that this is the shade of green you prefer (brother!)

 4) Just for fun let's try a blue food coloring for you folks that think yellow (beer) and blue make green....Shari!

As you can see, it just doesn't work, it is just a weird looking beer, maybe this would be good for really sad days (blue).

So a tip of the glass of Green Beer and to a Happy and Enjoyable Saint Patrick's Day!

Please have fun, but be responsible!  By the way, check out my recipe for slow cooked corned beef and cabbage, goes great with beer.

I usually just put my beer in a green glass! No green "lipstick" afterward! smilies/cheesy.gif

I would much rather have green Bailey's.
